The Astronomical Observatory of La Fresnedilla, developed in collaboration with the City Council of Villacarrillo, the sponsorship of the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Sport of the Junta de Andalucía and the collaboration of the Consortium Parque de las Ciencias de Granada has an audiovisual use room multiple and a main observatory that houses the main telescope of 400 mm fully computerized aperture under a 5 m dome. The equipment is completed with a solarium in the same terrace of the center where secondary observation instruments are available.
The equipment of the center offers the possibility of developing informative programs in the field of the diffusion of science and astronomy in particular, collaborating with the Consortium Parque de las Ciencias de Granada, with educational centers and associations.
The Astronomical Observatory of La Fresnedilla is located in the heart of the Natural Park of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas, thanks to its very low light pollution. In the rural house Cueva del Peinero, near the Astronomical Center, almost total darkness is achieved.
